Welcome to my Wine and Food Musings!

Okay, so I’ll just get it out of the way right now so there are no misunderstandings between us. I am an amateur when it comes to wines! There I’ve said it! Usually I pick out a wine bottle according to how much I like the label on it. (Oh come on, I know you do that too. How can anyone resist a wine called ‘Fat Bastard’ or ‘Angry Housewife’?)

However, that being said it should also be said that I love wine and when I love something I love to learn about it and that’s what this blog is all about – me learning! I just thought it might be fun to bring anyone else along with me who also might want to learn with me.

I encourage everyone to comment on anything I post with your opinions, tips, likes, and dislikes too. By all of us creating this new community of wine lovers we can all learn from each other and therefore before we all know it we’ll sound like experts when it comes to knowing what we like and dislike. I hope you will come along and we can go on this journey together.

The other thing you should know about me is I am an avid cook. I love to make healthy, delicious meals especially if the original recipe is decadent and unhealthy. It’s a challenge to see what I can do with it to make it slightly (and sometimes it is really only slightly) healthier. I am a vegetarian of over 20 years so I do love the challenge of taking a meat laden recipe and converting it so that even the most finicky meat lover will eat it and eat it happily.

The truth is that even though I am a veteran vegetarian there were indeed some meat meals that I used to love all those years ago and I don’t feel that I should be deprived of those gastronomical pleasures so that is where I like to challenge my cooking. I also love to discover new recipes and explore new techniques while pursuing my quest. I also tend to be pretty creative sometimes when I am in the kitchen and am willing to adapt and adjust any recipe to suit my tastes and the availability of whatever I may have in the cupboard at that moment.

  1. How about”horses ass”!!!! That wine is pretty good!!!!

  2. What no LI/NYS wine lists? Have you neglected your roots? (Don’t blame you – every time we go back, I cringe myself) Weird, cause even here, in NYS, you cannot find LI wines – unless of course you’re on LI. Lots of Finger Lakes stuff, plus others, but no LI.

    • I plan on checking out some LI/NYS wines but they are hard to find down here. I might have to ask them to order me some at my local Total Wine store or call the wineries direct and see if they can ship to me. 🙂
